I have been saving up this trash for far too long so I thought I better get to filming! It had been so long since I had filmed an empties video that I actually forgot how much I love them!! It is fun to go back and see what products you really enjoyed and would consider purchasing again!

I hope you enjoy the video! It is a long one…you may need a snack!! Xoxo

Rainforest of the Sea!

Hi! I can’t sleep so I thought I’d share! This product launch has been huge, at least in the YouTube world. I had to get my hands dirty and give it ago!

I didn’t want this to be the usual try one time and film a video. No! I wanted it to be an extended use review. Those are the best kind!

It is easy to love or hate a product after one using it only one time. Now using the product for several weeks gives you real experiences to base your opinion!

Take a few to relax and hear my thoughts! Xoxo

Seven Days of Skincare!

Hi Everyone!! Oh how I have missed you! I am so sorry for my absence, but this last week has been a whirlwind. I must say my body and mind just weren’t in it so I had to take a step back from my blogging. I am not going to share details because they aren’t really mine to share. I will say that watching others lose a loved one isn’t fun.

Okay, now on to a lighter subject! Skin care!! I have decided to dedicate the next seven days to seven favorite skin care products! Some of the products I talk about will be full size and some sample size…thank you ipsy and Birchbox!

DAY ONE:

I received this product in a sample size. You may be thinking a sample size won’t give you a good idea of the effects, but it really did! The sample size lasted FOREVER! I only had to use a dime size amount, maybe smaller, to be able to wash my entire face! This cleanser is an extra gentle soy milk cleanser. I really do not like cleansers that leave my face feeling tight and dry! I just feel like those types are beating my face up instead of helping it. Pur~lisse Pur Delicate, is an extra gentle formula that delicately washed away makeup and dirt. My face never felt dry, tight, or abused after using it!

Pros: It worked! It was so gentle and it had a very soft scent.

Cons: Really none, besides that if I decide to purchase the full size (which I am so tempted to do!) it rings in at $36..yikes! I have a hard time spending that much on a cleanser even if it is AMAZING!

March Ipsy vs March Birchbox.

Okay,  so this is only the second month in a row that I received both Ipsy and Birchbox. This is the third month for Birchbox as when I joined they sent it out that month, but Ipsy waited until the next. Is it bad that my lack of patience makes Birchbox have one extra point on my score board? Instant gratification is nice. I will be honest that I haven’t used any of these products yet. With that said I still wanted to share what both subscription services are like.

Ipsy:

This is the bag the products came in. I love the colors and design. I would actually use this bag. The card had pictures of four of the Ipsy stylist. The back had details on sharing your products on social media.

image

Product 1: A FULL SIZE Nyx Lipstick Butter…wow. This an amazing item to receive. Full size = Amazing. Nyx Full Size = O.M.G!!!!

image

Product 2: LeeAnni Eco 3 in 1 Revolution Light. This product says it is a toner, serum, and moisturizer all in one cream. I like the idea of being able to cut some corners so am excited to try this!

image

Procuct 3: Pur~lisse, which is a gentle soy cleanser and makeup remover. On Ipsy’s website this received a 4 out of 5 rating with over 18,000 reviews, so also a good product to be included in the March bag.

image

Product 4: An infinity shadow/crease brush by Crown Brush. This is also a full size product so two in one Month. Boom!

image

Product 5: This Pixi by Petra Mesmerizing Mineral Duo. These are great shades for Spring and Summer! I will say this sample was pretty small, but eyeshadows seem to last a long time even when they are small.

Now it is time to focus on Birchbox:

This is the box it came in. I am always very pleased with the boxing. I don’t know what I will do with them, but I do like the looks of the box.

image

This is the inside of the box, which always features a card with the details of each product, which is really nice to have as you look at the products.

image

Product 1: Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleansing kit. This product features a one time sample of a hot cloth cleansing treatment. With over 13,000 reviews on Birchbox’s site and a 4 our of 5 stars, I am pretty excited to try this!

image

Product 2: Elite Therapeutics Eucalyptus Rosemary Body Creme, which contains nourishing botanicals. This sounds like a relaxing skin care product. I will be honest about the fact that I am VERY picky about my lotions so I wasn’t super excited to see this sample.

image

Product 3:  Another skin care product! Roloxin Lift Revitalizing Treatment comes with one treatment to help fade fine lines and wrinkles. The only down side to this is about any treatment takes more than one to see any difference so not sure if this will show if it is worth buying the $110 product…we will see.

image

Product 4: Jelly Pong Pong Go Getter Highlighter..Yay! Bring on the glow! I love receiving products like this, because it is fun and versatile. It doesn’t hurt that the name is super HILARIOUS!

image

Product 5: This, it’s a 10, product I was actually able to pick before hand. There were two or three options (I can’t remember now..) I picked this because it had been so long I needed a refresher on if it is really a miracle product. I also chose this sample because it appeared much larger than the other samples.

Hello Hydration

The struggle of both oily and dry skin is not fun. The struggle is real folks!  I have an oily face and a super dry body. Here is my plan to fix it- olive oil, water, lotion, and no sugar. Okay, so let me begin with a few weeks ago I was watching Michelle Phan’s video about her skin care routine. I thought she was crazy when she said she cleanses with olive oil. I thought she was just crazy enough that I wanted to take her advice! I know use olive oil both day and night like a makeup remover plus a cleanser. I do have acne prone skin that (was) very oily so I use a mild cleanser by Clinique after the oil. What were my results?

Well, my face is now very rarely oily! I have also experienced less breakouts and my face is so soft! I think there are a couple reasons behind this. First, I think it is because I am not over drying my skin by applying an oil barrier before cleansing. Secondly, I have become quite strict about my skin care regime. No slacking this time! I think this combination has allowed my skin to keep ahead of blemishes besides the occasion hormonal breakout that isn’t in my control. I am very pleased with this new found complexion, because adult acne SUCKS!! For that occasional breakout I mix a little tea tree oil with my moisturizer focusing in on the blemish and the area near it. Remember to ALWAYS moisturizer after cleansing even if you are using olive oil. That is isn’t my full facial regimen, but it gives you the idea of how I am fixing my oily complexion.

Next, my super dry skin! It is our largest organ and mine is suffering from dryness…major dryness. First, I shower every other day unless I do yard work or something strenuous. I know it sounds weird, but soap, water, and heat dry my skin so badly daily showers had to go! I mean that is why there is such a thing called bird baths. You may be thinking, but you said water in your first paragraph as a part of your game plan (insert huffing noise). Yes, I did, but I am talking about drinking water  and lots of it. We should drink at least eight glasses of water each day, maybe more. I say get your eight glasses of water plus some. Then for any  caffeinated drink you consume replace it with that many glasses of water. I am trying to take care of my skin from within! I am adding more greens to my diet through having one green smoothing a day. For now, it consists of super greens, an apple, water, and frozen berries. It is tasty and nutritious. I have also given up white sugar and anything that I know has it as an ingriedient for Lent. I have allowed myself honey in tea and on bananas for dessert, but this is a huge change. I am kind of a sugaraholic. I am not far into Lent yet, but interested to see how my skin will respond.

My final step is putting on a good nourishing coat of lotion after every shower and at night. I am very picky about lotion. It has to be absorbed into my skin and be good for it. I prefer the brand Everyday in Coconut which I purchase at both Natural Grocers and Target depending on which is closer. It is decently priced for a large bottle. It has good Ingredients that I am not worried about having absorbed into my body, which isn’t the case for a lot of lotion brands. I have recently purchased Egyptian Magic from Costco and use it as a balm over my lotion on extra dry areas like elbows, feet, and lips. I am not totally sold on this product yet, but read good reviews so I wanted to try. It has great ingriedients, but is pricey and not has hydrating as The Everyday brand lotion. If I was going to recommend spending money it would be on the lotion. It is amazing!

You now know my dry skin combat plan, so what is yours? I’d love to hear your tips and tricks! I hope mine help ease the struggle of having an oily complexion and dry skin! Say hello to hydration. I can’t wait to share more with you soon!
