I am so sorry! I didn’t  mean to yell at you with the title! I am just so excited to play with fashion and prep for vacationing! I just love summer. I love the weather, the activities, and the fashion. Living it the Midwest Fall and Spring are okay..Summer is AMAZING and winter just plain old sucks! This is the best time of the year to really show off my favorite styles. Casual, adventurous, feminine or a mix of it all!

I feel like Summer is the best time to show off my personal style; the colors, the materials, all of it! I have always been a Summer girl and that still hasn’t changed. As I age I feel like it actually becomes more of me. I especially love playing with my style when traveling. I find myself talking more risks or playing more of a “role” with my fashion choices when we are on vacation!

I hope you enjoy my latest Lookbook! Xoxo! Talk soon!

Appropriate Makeup…

Hi! How are you doing today? I have wanted to sit down and write this for quite a while, but just haven’t! I often think about this and can’t come to a solid conclusion. Is their appropriate and inappropriate makeup? What do you think?

I have several thoughts on this. First, I want to say NO! There are no rules. This is something I totally feel when I put on makeup. I use bronzer for eye shadow and have even put mascara in my eyebrows. That is what makes playing with makeup so fun. There are no rules or if their are they were meant to be broken. Just because it says eye shadow doesn’t mean you can’t use it as a highlighter…something I often do!

The picture I used for this blog was a look I tried out just for fun. I don’t even think I left the house after applying. It is pretty bold, even for me! Should  I leave the house in something so bold? This is where I start to have mixed feelings on “appropriate” makeup. It is so situational!

I think the one time I feel myself solidly deciding YES there is appropriate and inappropriate makeup is when I am heading into work. I definitely choose carefully what I wear. Maybe I wear less. Maybe I choose a bold lip, but soft eyes. There is a level of professionalism I want to show at work. I think again this is also on a spectrum because it greatly depends on where you work and your comfort level with what you are wearing.

If we are talking about age then makeup and fashion come up a lot. I certainly  hope I always wear makeup,no matter my age, because it is fun! I don’t think age should eliminate any look from your choosing, but I can see how as I age I may not feel comfortable in certain styles. I think sometimes we judge someone on their fashion sense to harshly by their age. I won’t lie and say I’ve never been guilty of doing so.

What are your thoughts? Xoxo! Talk soon!

The Progression- My Youtube Channel

Hi Everyone! Wow, I haven’t blogged in a bit, but it feels so good to be back! I have just been so busy trying to balance what seems like a zillion things at once (I don’t even think that is a real word!). Sometimes, I cannot imagine life getting much busier…and we don’t even have kids yet!

I have spent the last hour or so making a new thumbnail for an upcoming Youtube video I made and I can’t help being so happy. I am happy not because I have a zillion (there it is again) followers, because in reality I have 25, but I am happy because it is MINE! I have drifted back and forth between knowing who I am and then losing sight of it. I feel like there is something about being a BIG person – working and pay bills, that makes you feel a little robotic.

Does anyone else get this feeling? It is like each day is the same or close too. I get up exhausted, go to work, work hard, come home exhausted, pick up the house, play with my doggy, watch TV, play on social media, stay up too late, and repeat. Seriously though! The days feel so short that I feel like I lose myself in it. I lose my hobbies, my passion, my desire for more than just making sure my mortgage is payed—-which is VERY important! I kinda like living here!!

I started this channel 10 months ago! Some of my videos are less than good because I had no option other than filming from my phone. Then they got a little better as I learned how to use my little digital camera. Then a little better as I played around with editing. Now, I am jumping for joy because we worked and saved so that I could get a new camera and upgrade my editor!!

I am thrilled as I sit here editing my first video shot with my new camera! It is so clear and it has a selfie screen. Gone are the days of propping my little digital camera against a mirror, holding another mirror, and watching the clock all at once to make sure that A.) I am actually in the shot and B.) that I know when the camera is going to die at the 8 minute mark! Yes, I am thrilled that my videos are FAR from perfect even with my new camera, but I am learning!!

I am learning these things that I once kind of knew, but forgot because they got pushed a side by life. I am so thrilled that I have pushed myself out of my comfort zone by putting ME out there for the world to possibly judge. I am just so excited that I am finally deciding to do something for me. This channel is something to look forward to because I am showing my creative passions. My videos may not be perfect, but DAMMIT I am learning!

Laynie Lashes

New Headbands, $1 each!

I love a good deal! In Branson, MO at The Landing shopping area, there was an accessories store where most items were $1.00. Amazing! I love headbands because you can make it look like you tried harder, even if you didn’t. It can take a crappy hair day and turn it into a good one. I couldn’t decided on one headband, so I got three. It is okay since they were so cheap! This is one of the few times being indecisive worked out well.

I picked three similar styles in three different colors. I liked these, because they were a lace pattern. I love feminine styles and that is exactly what lace is! The colors also gave them an antique or retro feel, which I am a sucker for! I am wearing the pink one today and I am impressed. A lot of headbands give me an annoying headache and so far I haven’t had a problem! Yay! Do you guys like headbands?

BOGO…Oh You Know!

Hi! So vacation means shopping and splurging. Bogo means buy one get one..so while on vacation that means, “Of course I need that.” I decided to peruse Payless and I happened to stumble upon the mountain of shoes I tried on. I mean like probably fifteen pairs. My wonderful husband was so patient. I decided on two, because it is Bogo!

I went with two classic, but versatile options. One in classic black and one in classic nude. I thought the black had a retro flair and the nude had so much potential! I was good. When I came home and I put two older gently used pairs in my Goodwill pile! Bogo on ladies!

It is hard to tell, but these have the cutest button on the side. They also have a wide heel, which makes it very easy to wear! If you’d like to check this out click here!

Swimwear for the Self-conscious!

I went to Branson, MO for a mini vacation and I had a blast (hence the MIA comment in my last post)! If you go to Branson you have to spend at least one day at White Waters! To be honest my curvy figure leaves me dreading swimwear! I’m usually confident, but swimsuit season is my BIG exception. It makes me feel so vulnerable! I happened to see this “swim-dress” while at the Branson Walmart and had to try it on! It is so flattering and comfortable! It wears like a short summer dress, but is perfect for the water park. Never once did the bottom creep into my crack (LOL, you know what I am talking about!) and the top never tried to let my girls escape..both of these are common incidents at water parks! If you are looking for a new ultra flattering swimsuit at a very reasonable price than I would highly recommend this pick. Also, I have a thing for retro fashion and this totally has that vibe! The suit is available in both regular and plus sizes!

Spring nails!

I usually pick nude, red, or dark nail polish. I tend to try to keep my nails “grown up” shades. Today I decided to switch it up and do something fun! I was thinking Springtime and Easter. Here is my question, is there nail looks that shouldn’t be used at a certain age? Or is nail polish timeless no matter the shade? Thoughts? Can’t wait to hear you’re answers!
