Appropriate Makeup…

DSC00732

Hi! How are you doing today? I have wanted to sit down and write this for quite a while, but just haven’t! I often think about this and can’t come to a solid conclusion. Is their appropriate and inappropriate makeup? What do you think?

I have several thoughts on this. First, I want to say NO! There are no rules. This is something I totally feel when I put on makeup. I use bronzer for eye shadow and have even put mascara in my eyebrows. That is what makes playing with makeup so fun. There are no rules or if their are they were meant to be broken. Just because it says eye shadow doesn’t mean you can’t use it as a highlighter…something I often do!

The picture I used for this blog was a look I tried out just for fun. I don’t even think I left the house after applying. It is pretty bold, even for me! Should  I leave the house in something so bold? This is where I start to have mixed feelings on “appropriate” makeup. It is so situational!

I think the one time I feel myself solidly deciding YES there is appropriate and inappropriate makeup is when I am heading into work. I definitely choose carefully what I wear. Maybe I wear less. Maybe I choose a bold lip, but soft eyes. There is a level of professionalism I want to show at work. I think again this is also on a spectrum because it greatly depends on where you work and your comfort level with what you are wearing.

If we are talking about age then makeup and fashion come up a lot. I certainly  hope I always wear makeup,no matter my age, because it is fun! I don’t think age should eliminate any look from your choosing, but I can see how as I age I may not feel comfortable in certain styles. I think sometimes we judge someone on their fashion sense to harshly by their age. I won’t lie and say I’ve never been guilty of doing so.

What are your thoughts? Xoxo! Talk soon!

My Least Favorite Mascara.

Hi! I don’t know about you, but as a makeup obsessed individual I am usually an easy to please consumer. I don’t consider myself a makeup snob MOST of the time. It usually has to be really hard to use or quick to wear off for me to be unhappy. This is the FIRST time I can say I majorly disliked this type of product…which one is it?

Mascara by Flower. I have used this brand before. I am obsessed with their powder to liquid blush, so I thought, “yes I will try their mascara,” as I grabbed it out of the bargain bin at Walmart. This mascara won’t ruin your life, but it is a sad version of mascara. Some how I think it makes my lashes look smaller than usual. It does add some length, but it makes my lashes look so thin. I would actually say it makes them appear brittle. Not a favorite.

Do you have a least favorite mascara or ever tried this product? Let me know! XoXo

Possibly My FAVORITE ever!!

rosewh_MED

Hi everyone!! I have a new(ish) favorite I have to share with you! I feel like I cannot live without it now. I have tried toners and a lot of them seem to do nothing…or they feel like pure alcohol. Well, a couple months ago I was browsing the beauty isle at my local grocery store and I saw this big bottle of toner on sale. I picked it up and read the label- a rose water, witch hazel, and alcohol free toner. Hmmm…my curiosity was peeked! On sale? Okay! Sure, I will try it!

I am SO glad I did. This stuff is AMAZING! After I wash my face every morning and night I cannot skip this product. It is like my face asks for it afterwards. It makes me skin feel so hydrated instantly!! I mean really! It is like my skin drinks this stuff in! It has aloe, Vitamin E, and rose water. It is refreshing, toning, and pure magic.

If you don’t use a good toner- YOU SHOULD. It helps rebalance the PH of our skin after washing it. It also helps your pores not look like gaping craters on your face (this is a problem I have). My large pore girls feel my pain! Even if you have beautiful little pores (that I am oh so jealous of) you need to try this. Your skin will thank you! P.S. a little goes a long way! This bottle has lasted months!

If you want to check out this product click here! That is also where I found this picture to share with you all…because I forgot to take one. An ways, have a great weekend! If you have tried this tell me what you think!? Xoxo

Top Drugstore Foundation!

IMG_7254Hi Everyone! Happy Sunday! I watch a lot of Youtube video when I am bored…of course, usually about makeup..who would have guessed?! Haha. Well, anyways, I kept hearing about this foundation by Bourjois. The only issue is it is only available in Europe! How did I solve this conundrum?

It wasn’t by traveling there. I wish it were, but I did shop via Amazon! I was able to find a seller who sells European cosmetics! How cool! Deciding what I was going to try was difficult, but I decided on the Healthy Mix Foundation and the matching powder. My color is Vanilla (except for the French form).

The cool fact about this foundation is the manufacturer also produces Channel foundation! Say what?! I should say that is at least the rumor online. The quality of this product is so nice that I do believe it is true. I think for both the gel foundation and powder I spent around $30 with shipping…not bad!

The foundation is a gel with light to medium coverage that is buildable. If you prime first it works even better and with the powder over top it is perfect! It is light on the skin, it smells wonderful, and it hasn’t irritated my skin. I am obsessed!

Will I buy it again..maybe, but maybe not. I am a makeup connoisseur so I like to switch it up. I am sure I will be on to the next thing once this bottle is empty! But I truly mean when I say that it is an amazing drugstore brand. The USA needs to add this to their long list of cosmetics!

I really liked this brand, Klorane, the last time I received it. I also LOVE dry shampoo. I use it a lot to make styles and hair color last longer. This is formulated for brunettes, which is a nice feature.

Final Thoughts:

I must say both subscriptions met my expectations this month. All the products seem usable and there was a nice mixture of products. I will say that Ipsy gave me the only true full size product..I am a sucker for those! Birchbox, did give the lip and cheek crayon, which could basically fall under a full size product. Also, the Birchbox gave two travel size hair care items, which is great for my upcoming trip! Hmmm…I don’t know if I have a favorite this month! How about you guys? Talk soon!
